Recent Tasting Notes on CellarTracker

  • Tasted by rogerr. On the palate acid dominates. Short finish and forgettable. Second day was mixed with a bit more fruit but some oxidation as well. (86 pts.) – Tasted 1/25/2026.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Full bodied for Carignan. Now almost a decade in, the wine is still fruit forward but has balanced tannins but a bit low on acid. Plush and enjoyable on the palate. Day 2 it degraded. I think it is near the peak. Bravo to winemaker Amy Butler for making an intersting Carignan. […]
  • Tasted by rogerr. Classic Optimus. Delish. (93 pts.) – Tasted 1/18/2026.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Good balance between acid and fruit. Nice texture and long finish. (93 pts.) – Tasted 1/17/2026.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Enjoyed over 2 days. Mineral predominates on the nose. The palate is complex with citrus, mellon and some floral notes. Good acid. Maybe a bit better on day 2. (91 pts.) – Tasted 1/15/2026.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Complex and apealing nose. On the palate the acid is predominant and fruit is faded. Rhubarb and faint red fruit. Finish is fine. Little changed on day 2. Perhaps in a dumb phase or past its prime – not sure. (89 pts.) – Tasted 1/14/2026.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Loved this wine upon release (I think 2014? – it is held back by the winery.) It has developed into a wonder. Intoxicating aromas, and it explodes on the palate, almost like a virtual pop rock. Great acid balances out the RS perfectly. Sipped room temp and it never diminished over an […]
  • Tasted by rogerr. Amazing wine drinking beautifully. Balance, texture, length. Got it all. (95 pts.) – Tasted 1/9/2026.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Enjoyed over 2 days. Nice ruby color. Aromas of red fruit and earth. On the palate, forward acid and mature fruit. Hints of rhubarb and other earthy notes. Nice finish. Wine did not fade on day 2. Solid example from the region but not memorable. (89 pts.) – Tasted 1/8/2026.

  • Toscano is now Disneyland
I had not been to Tuscany in 30 years. It’s still beautiful, the food is just as good, but tourism is causing a pernicious form of gentrification. There is only a fixed amount of Toscano but there seems to be more tourists, I suspect, because of the amplification of beautiful things by the maelstrom of… Read More »Toscano is now Disneyland
  • Vietnam ’24
We were part of a group on a bike tour of central Vietnam in March 2024. A video made during our tour by the host, Mr Biker Saigon Some pics and a few videos collected into an iCloud photo album
  • We were interviewed by Nathan…
Nathan’s “I’m Moving To Italy” podcast has been a encouraging lifeline in our process of searching for, buying, and learning how to live in Italy. In July of this year, Natan interviewed us for his podcast. We tell our story from the beginning up to the present and hope it helps others as much as… Read More »We were interviewed by Nathan…
