  • Toscano is now Disneyland
I had not been to Tuscany in 30 years. It’s still beautiful, the food is just as good, but tourism is causing a pernicious form of gentrification. There is only a fixed amount of Toscano but there seems to be more tourists, I suspect, because of the amplification of beautiful things by the maelstrom of… Read More »Toscano is now Disneyland

Recent Tasting Notes on CellarTracker

  • Tasted by rogerr. No decant. Wine immediately has intense aromas with a measure of mature wine. Wine is seamless, balanced, and has a long finish. Develops nicely in the glass over an hour. Great example of aged CDP. Not sure if it will improve from here. (94 pts.) – Tasted 9/12/2024.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Nice CDP that is a bit long in the tooth. Tobacco and balsamic on the nose. Integrated with some tertiary flavors on the palate. Pleasurable but this wine is over the peak. I rated it higher 8 years ago. Drink soon. (90 pts.) – Tasted 9/12/2024.
  • Tasted by rogerr. I've always like this wine and good to see it holds up over time. Very Bordeaux blanc – like. Second day wine was diminished. Drink now. (92 pts.) – Tasted 9/11/2024.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Always liked this producer. This entry level wine is holding up and showing beautifully! (92 pts.) – Tasted 8/28/2024.
  • Tasted by rogerr. From magnum. Drinking well. 2011 was an atypical weather year so the wines from this vintage are distinctive, higher acid, lighter body. Aging very will (no tertiary hints so far. (93 pts.) – Tasted 8/23/2024.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Loved the rustic nature of this Pinot when it was released. I cellared a bottle as an experiment in its age-worthiness. Unfortunately, the wine has fallen apart. Overly tart and bitter, fruit mostly faded, and nothing interesting taking its place. Agree with recent note by @BrendanNeary (82 pts.) – Tasted 8/21/2024.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Peach and pear. Good intensity and balance. Medium finish. Best served cold. Nice quaffer. (89 pts.) – Tasted 8/7/2024.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Not as fresh as expected but a nice quaffer. Extra points for a varietal from its homeland. Not sure if it will improve with age. (89 pts.) – Tasted 8/4/2024.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Maybe it is bottle variation, but the same bottling stored identically drank MUCH better 17 months ago. (BTW, the other bottle I had was singing then.) This bottle is definitely past it's prime showing stewed fruit and mediocre finish with a touch of oxidation. Drink ASAP. (87 pts.) – Tasted 8/2/2024.
