  • Toscano is now Disneyland
I had not been to Tuscany in 30 years. It’s still beautiful, the food is just as good, but tourism is causing a pernicious form of gentrification. There is only a fixed amount of Toscano but there seems to be more tourists, I suspect, because of the amplification of beautiful things by the maelstrom of… Read More »Toscano is now Disneyland
  • Vietnam ’24
We were part of a group on a bike tour of central Vietnam in March 2024. A video made during our tour by the host, Mr Biker Saigon Some pics and a few videos collected into an iCloud photo album
  • We were interviewed by Nathan…
Nathan’s “I’m Moving To Italy” podcast has been a encouraging lifeline in our process of searching for, buying, and learning how to live in Italy. Recent Tasting Notes on CellarTracker

  • Tasted by rogerr. From magnum. Drinking well. Traditional Nebbiolo brick color. Well balanced and integrated. Drink now. (92 pts.) – Tasted 6/15/2025.
  • Tasted by rogerr. One of the best Favorita (Vermentino) that I've tasted from the Langhe. Crisp with a nice complement of citrus. Great value. (92 pts.) – Tasted 6/6/2025.
  • Tasted by rogerr. This bottle is in a great drinking spot. Classic Rutherford "dust" aromas and texture. Ripe fruit with a tannic backbone which is very silky. Long, complex finish. Did not decant and wine opened up nicely after about 20 minutes in the glass. (@winelabcamp club selection from 12/2018) (94 pts.) – Tasted 6/4/2025.
  • Tasted by rogerr. JS gave this 97 pts. I don't get it. It's either sleeping or there was payola. Enjoyable enough but seemed disjointed and not very complex. Ripe and palate filling but lacking in finesse with a medium finish. Will report after further cellar aging. (90 pts.) – Tasted 6/2/2025.
  • Tasted by rogerr. (there might be a duplicate record for this wine in CT with the name "Josetta Saffirio Barolo") Purchased at the winery 2 years ago, this wine is in a great drinking phase now. Very pronounced aromas of red berries, roses, herbs. On the palate the wine is well integrated with a good […]
  • Tasted by rogerr. Consistent with recent notes. Maturing nicely. (93 pts.) – Tasted 4/8/2025.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Drinking well. Will continue to improve a bit with age. (93 pts.) – Tasted 4/8/2025.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Aging nicely and showing a lighter body as the tannins are significantly softened. Color is ruby and there is still fruit on the nose and palate. Enjoyed at a restaurant with friends so no chance to decant and my senses were dulled by a cold but it showed well regardless. (93 pts.) […]
  • Tasted by rogerr. Agree with recent notes. Rich, nice texture, med + finish. Good effort for a rhonish style white. (92 pts.) – Tasted 3/10/2025.
