  • Toscano is now Disneyland
I had not been to Tuscany in 30 years. It’s still beautiful, the food is just as good, but tourism is causing a pernicious form of gentrification. There is only a fixed amount of Toscano but there seems to be more tourists, I suspect, because of the amplification of beautiful things by the maelstrom of… Read More »Toscano is now Disneyland
  • Vietnam ’24
We were part of a group on a bike tour of central Vietnam in March 2024. A video made during our tour by the host, Mr Biker Saigon Some pics and a few videos collected into an iCloud photo album
  • We were interviewed by Nathan…
Nathan’s “I’m Moving To Italy” podcast has been a encouraging lifeline in our process of searching for, buying, and learning how to live in Italy. Recent Tasting Notes on CellarTracker

  • Tasted by rogerr. Not improving with age. Fruit is a bit dull. Texture and body good. Drink ASAP. (89 pts.) – Tasted 1/10/2025.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Had a bottle of this squirreled away for possible cooking purposes. Opened it today thinking there was no way it would even be good for cooking. Wine sas closed by plastic cork. Color was ruby and there was little oxidation. It was quaffable but not interesting or even pleasant. BUT, it's remarkable […]
  • Tasted by rogerr. Showing well and held up for the second day. Drink now or hold for 1 – 2 years. (91 pts.) – Tasted 1/8/2025.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Agree with recent notes. Dark and extracted. Nicely integrated and drinking well now. Next day it was a bit diminished. Drink now. (91 pts.) – Tasted 1/6/2025.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Ruby in color. Classic aromas. Tart red fruits. Few secondary and no tertiary aromas or flavors. This wine still seems youthful. I see some flawed bottles in recent notes. This one was exceptional for the price. (93 pts.) – Tasted 1/3/2025.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Pop & poured. Immediately expressive and pleasant on the palate. Agree with recent notes. Over the course of 2 hours, the wine became a bit more tannic and astringent. Saved a glass for day 2 and the color and vibrancy have changed for the worse. Still drinkable but noticeable oxidation. Drink now. […]
  • Tasted by rogerr. I'm sure I liked this when tasted at the winery a decade ago. At this point, it is most unenjoyable. No flaws. Disjointed nose and palate. Harshly acidic character with unharmonious black fruits. Tried it day 2 and it was no better. Poured it down the drain. (80 pts.) – Tasted 1/1/2025.
  • Tasted by rogerr. I think this is a blend of nebbiolo, barbara, and dolcetto. Medium to full bodied. Simple but nice aromas of red and black fruit. Medium tannin and acid. Has a good texture and nice finish. Nothing very memorable but well made and good for a mid-week bottle. (91 pts.) – Tasted 12/21/2024.
  • Tasted by rogerr. Fairly simple but well-made and integrated example of Barbera / Nebbiolo blend. Pleasant aromas, mid-palate, and finish. Next day the wine had degraded a tiny bit. This is intended to be consumed young. (90 pts.) – Tasted 12/17/2024.
